Mode & Science III by Naoki Takizawa / Anthropometria

2010.10.28-2010.12.30
Koishikawa Annex

For the third collection of our Mode & Science series entitled Natural History by Naoki Takizawa, our starting point consisted in the analytic geometry models made in Germany in the 1880s. The varied and complex curves of these objects in plaster were transferred to the realm of fashion according to complex patterning and sewing techniques. This is how we confronted the issue of human morphology and movement, an eternal issue artists face. This exhibition attracted the eye of visitors by showcasing the patterning work and sewing techniques required in order to express in the realm of fashion the mutual relationship between the form of clothing and the movements of the human body.
