    FIRST SIGHT
The Trochus, a back-loaded horn-type speaker characterized by its use of an inverse phase derived algorithmically from the signal tone to refine the timbre, takes its name from Trochus maculatus, the scientific name of the western scallop inhabiting waters near Japan. Since August, we have been listening to Brahms’s symphonies. The midrange sound quality, which was a challenge, has now been refined, suggesting the development of this unit has passed a critical milestone. After a brief adjustment period, we plan to test chamber and solo pieces where midrange sound quality is particularly crucial. Starting October 10th, we begin listening sessions of works by Franz Schubert.
