Grand Prize Diploma of Japan-British Exhibition Awarded to the Tokyo Imperial University College of Engineering

1910 / London (England) / Printed on paper / Formerly a collection of Faculty of Engineering, the University of Tokyo / UMUT

概要

The Japan-British Exhibition was an international exhibition held in Shepherds Bush, London, from May 14 to October 29, 1910 after the conclusion of the Anglo-Japanese Alliance, and on vast grounds covering 22,550 m2. The honorary president from Japan was Prince Fushimi Sadanaru. After its victory against Russia in 1905, Japan was eager to catch up with the great Western powers, and this exhibition was regarded as a good opportunity for Japan to appeal its modernized nation and to promote its export extension policy toward the U.K.
