概要

Juntaro Takahashi (1855-1920) was the first professor at the Department of Pharmacology. He studied in Germany from 1882 to 1885, following his graduation from the Department of Medicine. It is upon his return that Pharmacology came to be taught independently from Medicine. Takahashi’s well-known accomplishments include his research on the physiological action of blowfish poison. Kozaburo Takeishi (1877-1963) was a Niigata-born sculptor active in the Ministry of Education Bunten exhibition. At the Department of Sculpture of the Tokyo School of Art he studied under Moriyoshi Naganuma, and upon graduating, he attended the Belgian Royal School of Art in Brussels from 1901 to 1909. From 1911 on, he exhibited at the Bunten, and gained authority as a portrait sculptor.
