It is estimated that the production of diamond replicas has begun in the 18th Century, in relationship with the considerable development of Natural History at that time. Diamonds have long belonged to the realm of the unknown, and as such they were the object of numerous legends. Among the numerous existing diamonds, the fact of possessing the famous ones basically signifies the domination of mankind over nature. Although they are replicas, these specimens are particularly precious in that they embody the diamonds’ actual condition in the 19th Century.
