Collection of Mammal Skull
Date unknown / Formerly a collection of Department of Medicine, UMUT / UMUT
概要
Mammals developed heterodont dentition, which is a functional differentiation in teeth morphology into incisors, canines and molars. Their teeth thus clearly indicated their food habit. Adding to it, the sculls show species-specific morphological characteristics in the arrangement of jaw joints and muscles, the holding of sensory organs, brain protection as well as weight reduction. These specimens embody the forms necessary for survival, and the forms resulting from the long history of evolution.
