概要

From olden times, Japan has had a tradition of wooden skeletons. Until the late Edo period, due to Buddhism restriction, using actual skeletons in medical research facilities are forbidden. Such facilities would ask a sculptor who specialized in creating Buddhist statues to make a wooden skeleton for them. Modern sculptors are attempting to revise the tradition.
