Aepyornis Egg (replica)

History unknown / Replica made in 2012 / Color on resin / Donated by Natural History Museum, Aix-en-Provence (France) / UMUT

概要

Among animal species known to us, the Aepyornis is the one which lays the biggest egg. The egg's volume is 7 to 9 liters, which is the equivalent of about 180 hen eggs. The egg is representative of a perfect form issued from the natural world, and as it contains life within its shell, it can also be seen as a cosmic globe encompassing all beings.
