“Egg in Space” Installation
2007 / Yoshiaki Nishino + Sergio Calatroni + Hiroyuki Sekioka + Hiroto Nakatsubo / Aepyornis egg (replica made by Kyoto Kagaku Co.), marble, brass, cypress base / UMUT
概要
This installation offers an interpretative counterpoint to Constantin Brancusi’s “Bird in Space.” While producing the series of works revolving around the theme of the bird, Brancusi also paid attention to the form of the egg. The work in which he placed an egg on a metallic plate is well known, but he never actually erected an egg. In making this installation, materials which suit the sculptor best were chosen for the base.
